My Congressional Representative is a Coward

About Feeney

Up until this last electoral go around my district was a Republican strong hold recycling Tom Feeney to Washington, every two years. That is until he decided that a golf trip to St. Andrews Scotland with "notorious" Jack Abramoff footing the bill was a good idea Another good idea was that it wasn't worth reporting as a gift. Tom did like to travel.

Then he decided that the new Autodial technology that allows Congressmen to call all of their constituents at the same time was a great time to do his Sean Hannity imitation.

I shudder at that memory. "You're a great American"!! "No, you are"!

He was swept out of office with the progressive groundswell that accompanied Barak Obama's election.

His replacement? A Democrat named Suzanne Kosmas. Ms. Kosmas, previously a Realtor from New Smyrna Beach, set to immediately demonstrating to her constituency through direct mail and television commercials campaigns, that she was the correct choice over her miscreant competition. Ah, those heady first hundred days of pushing through unread bills. Trudging lockstep with the Democratic Majority and learning the ropes of Washington and government.

I called my representative a coward. And I do believe that that is the case. In the heated debate of healthcare a large number of Congress people have gone into the lion's den to listen to their constituency. Some being shouted at and abused by their audiences but all getting the temperature of the situation. All of them, finding that there is not as much approval on the direction of the congress as the smoky haze of Washington and custom polls may indicate. All of them, understanding that with an agenda that effects all of us and our children that the people must have a voice. We must be heard.

Ms. Kosmas has announced that she will hold a "Telephone" town hall meeting. What a convenient a device to silence descent. Sit in a comfortable office and speak 'to' the people. To tell us what you intend to do 'for' us as our duly elected representative. To speak into a one way telephone and expect no descent.

Ms. Kosmas. How can you represent people you can't hear? See?

Come out! Listen. Democracy is loud. Democracy is raucous.

But at its heart it is the voice of the people.
